Tissot Watches - Innovators by Tradition

Founded in 1853, Swiss watch makers, Tissot remain at the forefront of global watch manufacture. Their slogan "innovators by tradition" underpins why they are an international force in the watch industry. Tissot are justifiably proud of their heritage, they have pioneered many techniques and materials that are now commonly used in watch manufacture. Their history of innovation has seen them remain as a premier watch brand in the global consciousness.

In 1983 Tissot produced the worlds first mass produced pocket watch and the first pocket watch that displayed two time zones. Tissot made the first anti-magnetic watch in 1929, the first watches made out of plastic (1971), the first watches made out of stone (1985), out of mother of pearl (1987) and out of wood (1988).

Their most recent innovation has been the amazing T-Touch series. These watches have touch-activated dials. The touch sensitive sapphire glasses of the T-Touch watches enable the user to quickly and easily access a range of information. The features that can be accessed through this technology include barometers, altimeters, compasses and thermometers.

The company is still based in le Locle, Switzerland and is now a part of the Swatch Group. Tissot watches are sold in more than 150 countries around the world. The Swatch Group are the largest producer and distributor of watches globally and have been since 1983. Tissot pride themselves on having a large number of different styles of watches, their product range is designed to appeal to a wide variety of people. They make watches from the ultra chic to practical yet super tech sports watches.

Tissot sponsor a large number of sporting events, normally taking the role of ‘official time-keeper'. They have been supporting Nascar since 2006. The racing sport is particularly popular in the United States but is growing in popularity globally as the years go by. Tissot watches have timed the Ice Hockey World Championships since 1996. Ice Hockey is a major sport in Switzerland and Tissot have remained true to their local roots by sponsoring the Swiss Ice Hockey team. Tissot also sponsor the MotoGp and are the official timers for a host of other premier events including many world championships.
