Bimini

Known as one of the top Bahamas fishing locations, as it's only 50 miles away from Miami and South Florida, the Biminis offer a range of opportunities from bonefish to Blue Marlin. Famously the haunt of Ernest Hemingway in the 1930's, The Bahamas' only grander was caught here in 1979, making it an historic location from which to fish!

Sandy Point, Abaco

Located several miles around Abaco's south-west tip, Sandy Point is close to 'Hole in the Wall' (the famous hideout of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), as well as some excellent bottom fishing. Wahoo have been known to stack up in the riptides that materialize around the mouth of the Northeast Providence Channel.

Green Turtle, Abaco

The bonefishing surrounding the Green Turtle Club is excellent. Compared to many other Bahamas fishing destinations which harbour large schools of small fish, Green Turtle is home to larger fish. On the offshore side, dolphin, marlin, and tuna can be found migrating past in the spring.

Treasure Cay/Marsh Harbour

Famed as big marlin country for many Bahamas fishing trips, between April and early June blue marlin are a huge draw off this section of the Abacos. Fish of the 800 and 900 pound classes have been caught here, and some of the largest dolphins to be seen anywhere migrate past the Abacos during the spring.

Davis Harbour, Eleuthera

A popular Bahamas fishing destination for mid-size boats, Davis Harbour is on Eleuthera's west side. Dolphin can be caught by 'trolling' tight to the edge of the harbour, and the reef is home to some of the largest grouper inThe Bahamas, along with a plethora of other species. Yellowtail, mackerel, and jacks can all be caught in these waters. Fantastic 'trolling' for marlin and wahoo can be found along 'The Bridge', an underwater ledge that connects Eleuthera's southern tip to nearby San Salvador.

Chub Cay

About 80 miles east and southeast of Bimini, the legendary Chub Cay Club is on the doorstep of the deep 'Tongue of the Ocean', a deep oceanic trench. At times, it turns into a natural fishbowl with thick schools of dolphin and marlin, so it's a great choice for Bahamas fishing.

Crooked Island

During May and June, impressive numbers of blue marlin migrate with the northbound current that flows alongside Crooked Island. The fish frequent the shelves and drop-offs that run parallel with the island, and they're funnelled by the 26-mile gap between the tip of Crooked Island and the eastern tip of Long Island.

Rum Cay

During spring and early summer, a Bahamas fishing trip to Rum Cay will yield excellent results if you're after blue marlin. Another huge draw for the area is its proximity to Diana Bank, a seamount some 65 miles out from Rum Cay. Between January and March, wahoo frequent the bank to forage for food. Though it's a hot spot, it's lightly fished and can yield numbers of wahoo between 50 and 100 pounds. What a catch!
